Dual Fuel Income Qualify Rebate

Dual fuel heating system rebate: electric heat pump combined with gas furnace

Dual Fuel Heating System Rebate

The dual fuel heating system rebate helps reduce the cost of installing an electric heat pump paired with a high-efficiency gas furnace. To qualify, the system must include a connected thermostat that switches to gas heating at a specific temperature. This upgrade offers efficient heating and cooling, reduces energy consumption, and lowers greenhouse gas emissions, making it a great solution for replacing older furnaces.

To be eligible for the dual fuel heating system rebate, you must be a residential FortisBC gas customer with a single active gas account at your primary residence. Additionally, your household’s combined annual income must be below a certain threshold based on your household size, and proof of income will be required.

Applications must be submitted within one year of the invoice date. Only one rebate is allowed per home, and the rebate cannot exceed the amount paid on the invoice.

Your system must replace an existing gas furnace that’s at least 10 years old. It must include a new central ducted air-source heat pump integrated with a compatible high-efficiency gas furnace, installed by a licensed contractor. The system must meet region-specific temperature settings and be properly sized, with a program-approved heat load calculation. Warranty replacements and insurance claims are not eligible. For more details, refer to the full program terms and requirements.

To ensure your appliances qualify for the rebate, it’s essential to consult the rebate-eligible product list.
