For installations completed between May 1 and May 31, 2025:
The dual fuel heating system rebate offers financial assistance for the installation of an electric heat pump combined with a high-efficiency gas furnace. This integrated system provides efficient heating during the coldest months and cooling during the warmer seasons, enhancing year-round comfort. Designed to replace aging systems, the dual fuel setup not only boosts energy efficiency but also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
This rebate encourages homeowners to invest in more sustainable and reliable heating and cooling solutions, lowering both energy consumption and environmental impact.
To qualify for the dual fuel system rebate, the system must replace a gas furnace that is at least 10 years old and serves as the primary space heating source. Replacement of an existing dual fuel system is not eligible. It must include a new, eligible air-source heat pump and high-efficiency gas furnace operated by a single set of control, and installed by a licensed contractor who is a member in good standing of the Home Performance Contractor Network.
The home linked to the Fortis BC account need to meet a minimum annual average consumption of 55GJs over the past 24 months to be eligible. Adminstrators have the right to determine whether the applications meet the minimum annual average.
The heat pump must meet specific performance requirements, including region-specific temperature settings, and the system must be properly sized through an approved heat load calculation. Commisioning data must be done and submitted by the contractor at the time of installation. Warranty replacements and insurance claims are ineligible.
Full details are available in the program’s website.
To ensure your equipment qualifies for the rebate, verify that the heat pump meets the eligible product list. It’s recommended to consult your contractor or retailer before purchasing to confirm the eligibility of the system you’re considering. This will help ensure your chosen equipment aligns with program requirements and secures the rebate.
